To Dear Mary,
A few lines to let you know that I received your welcome letter. I just wrote to you a few days ago. I only wish I had know(n) you was going to Bendigo you could have gone up to our place. You would have been welcome. Well dear Mary we are having rain today. So I shall close with love to you. Remember me to Maggie and Dorrie.
The image on the front of this postcard is that of a ‘pop idol’ of the day – Gladys Cooper. Born in 1888 she was starring in film and stage productions in England throughout the period of the war. Her career continued successfully, moving to USA in the 1940s and continuing to work until her death in 1971. She was nominated for three Academy Awards.
